An important task of any trade association is campaigning on behalf of its members.
The BCCA has a proud tradition of working across a range of issues – the early days of cheque cashing regulation, fighting to save the cheque from abolition, to the development of new rules around consumer credit.
We operate an ‘issues-management’ process that built around information from our members. That may sound complicated but it is really just about listening to the concerns of members and coming up with a list of priorities for action.
Then we consider how we can bring some value through campaign activity. These will tend to be where a political, regulatory or a reputational issue has arisen.
The BCCA team will develop a campaign under the direction of our Chief Executive, with oversight by the board. Members are then regularly updated on campaign activity.
Throughout the year campaigns will ebb and flow. Look out for developments in our news section, through our social media channels and within the individual campaign pages.
